DIGITAL ORTHOPHOTO AND SATELLITE IMAGERIES FOR HYDROGRAPHIC STUDIES
Eng.KHALIL S. ALMAHARMEH / Royal Jordanian Geographic Center
Abstract
Water is the origin of life on the earth, civilizations exist wherever water exists.
As Jordan lies in an arid or semi arid area characterized by the low precipitation and rapid evaporation with high human rate expansion ,effeorts have been undertaken to save water using technics and methods for water management to achieve this target.
This paper describes the role of Digital Orthoto and Remote Sensing in water studies
Photogrammetry provids the accurate location and description of features while remote sensing -at a comprehensive level- is helpfull at the determination of water surface and under ground resources .
both technics (based on digital orthophoto and satellite imageries) are components of the GIS for building updated database based on digital orthophoto and satellite imageries that help to give solution for the decision makers for ideal water management investigation .
