Abstract
Between 1996 and 2000, International Water Association Task Forces produced 'Best Practice' approaches to evaluating Non-Revenue Water and Water Losses, and guidance as to the most appropriate Performance Indicators to use for these parameters. These methods are gaining rapid international acceptance. The application of these methods to water supply systems with roof tanks, typical of much of the Middle East, is considered in the paper using case studies, and differences with direct pressure systems are highlighted. The application of the IWA method to systems with intermittent (rotational) supply is also considered.

The activities consist of providing technical assistance to the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority, ASEZA; cooperating with the Royal Scientific Society, RSS, on research and monitoring programs, conducting technical training workshops in the area of the reuse of recycled water and biosolids in agriculture, providing capacity building to educational and research centers in Jordan, providing training on laboratory techniques, holding seminars, workshops and conferences in the area of sustainable wastewater reuse.
