Abstract
One of the main difficulties Jordan faces is lack of natural resources, mainly water and energy. Therefore the relatively high running cost of water and energy especially with the increasing demand creates the need to investigate opportunities to fully utilize water and energy and minimize possible wastages what will save on individuals and on the government as well. High potential for savings in water and energy exists in the residential, industrial, institutional and commercial sectors. Another potential for savings comes in Water Pumping Stations in Jordan, which account for a major portion of the annual electricity bills of Jordan (around JD 40,000,000). Financing is one of the major barriers for successful implementation of water and energy retrofitting projects. Another is lack of awareness of end users of the reality of water and energy conservation practices, the high cost of energy saving and energy efficient appliances and low priority.
