Hisham Ahmad, Al-Keena Hygienic Paper Mill Co. Ltd.
Abstract
Jordan is facing a chronic imbalance in the population and water resources equation. Ground water is considered to be the Kingdom’s major source for this very important and precious commodity; where most of it is renewable. Unfortunately, however, underground water is being severely exploited, so much that in some cases it goes beyond safe yield limits of certain aquifers. Hence, the need for a better water conservation awareness.
The Industrial complex part of Nuqul Group consists of 3 companies, (Al-Keena Hygienic Paper Mill Co. Ltd., Modern Aluminum Industries Co. Ltd., and Quality Food Co. Ltd.), have realized this threat very early in the design and erection stages for each plant. State of the art technologies were purchased to facilitate highest possible efficiency use of natural resources including water and energy. Management awareness in this regard was positively transferred to all employees, whom in their tern translated it in to practice.
Each Plant produces different products, and each product has to go through a completely different manufacturing process, where water plays a major part in these processes. In other word; water plays a major part in the existence of each of these companies. Indeed the reason for placing three diverse industries in one common site was taken by the Nuqul Group because of the availability of what was at the time a good water source (quantity and quality wise) at this site in Eastern Ureinbeh, Jiza.
